Geraldo Valerio. Brazilian Childrens’ Book Illustrator

Geraldo Valerio was born in Brazil in 1970.

His quick sketchy drawings here remind me of the work of Quentin Blake.

He graduated from the School of Fine Arts,at the Federal University of Minas Gerais and

received a Master of Arts degree from New York University in 2000.

He has illustrated many books in Brazil, Portugal, Canada and the United States.

I like the fact that he has many styles to his work, some more painterly and others more cartoon.

Geraldo lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada where he enjoys

walking along the ocean and watching otters, seals and herons.
