Eric Ravilious meets Orla Kiely, Angie Lewin and Elaine Pamphilon
August 7, 2010
There’s a real feeling of satisfaction when artists who you admire come together.
It’s a peacefulness that you can only feel by association to their work and knowing
why they have chosen that route or artistic direction. Such was the inner satisfaction when I discovered
Angie Lewin is also a huge fan of the work of Eric Ravilious (possibly my all time favourite artist.)
I love the way she includes his Alphabet Mug and his 1953 QE2 Coronation Mug in her beautiful work.
and in the same way, talented artist Elaine Pamphilon has also discovered Eric’s work and Orla Kiely too!
I’ll certainly be blogging more about Mr Ravilious in the future… watch this space !

That QE2 mug….from that link looks like he made a lovely one in 1937 for Wedgewood: colour combination great. Wish I sat next to u in art history…u would o inspired me to learn more then. Keep it up as its never 2 late 4 me. X x x
Well spotted young lady ! He did originally make one for the 1937 King George the 6th and the same design was used for the QE2 Coronation after Ravilious’s death. I’m completely self taught when it comes to art history, so there’s plenty of hope for you yet lol. Glad it inspires you too x
