Autumn
October 15, 2012
Ok, it’s official. I’ve finally succumbed to the fact that autumnal times are here and that summer won’t be making a long term appearance this year. I must admit that Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year and I love days like yesterday with it’s mix of sunshine, mists, icy crispness and seeing the trees starting to change colour. It’s a great time of year. Here’s a few images I took recently.
Even my visit to Ikea last week seemed to be trying to tell me something.
What do you like about Autumn ? I would love to be back in Connecticut in the fall.

Great point Sarah, those dangly shadows are a sure sign of evenings drawing in. I’d forgotten about them , thanks for the reminder.
I love the colors, its like the world’s on fire.
I love the crispness in the morning & the darkness at night.
I love the wind and the rain and my warm chair by the fireplace.
I love that I again can retire from the world with a book in my lap …
Thanks Sigrun, for the great lines there. A book and fireside conjures wonderful ideas of toasty evenings and firelit stories.
Autumnal dangly shadows helping my dark, darker, darkest ‘Little Red ‘ illustrations .Grab a blanket, grab a book and inspire a new generation. Here are the new scribbles … http://scribblerstail.blogspot.co.uk/ http://www.thebrightagency.com/artists/view/241

So glad to be able to inspire Julia, I’ll have a look at your link and it may even inspire me in return lol. Thanks for that.
The colours and scents are at their best, and Autumn brings the anticipation of Christmas which is welcome (if we can ignore the adverts on TV), but I think what I like most is it fires the imagination – there is something about the dying of the year which sets us dreaming and is wonderful.
Sounds strange but I hadn’t quite thought of Autumn heralding the dying of the year John, more the sleeping lol I agree with your suggestion of it ‘firing the imagination’ tho. Thanks for your comment
