Vintage Book Covers
January 26, 2024
It’s been a while since I shared some classic book covers. I can’t tell you why but they always make me feel warm inside, I hope they have the same effect for you : )
Here’s a little science to get the visual party started.
A little food to go on the side table.
Throw in a little mystery and intrigue.
Making sure it’s well packaged.
Remember there’s a lot to learn out there.
Even if it’s from our children.
Before alas and all too soon… the party’s over.
Do any of these covers prompt a memory for anyone ? Hope you enjoyed today’s visual feast !

Ha ! You sent me off down a complete rabbit hole with that Agatha Christie cover ! I’d never heard of it – and it turns out it’s the German title for her Poirot novel ‘Sad Cypress’ ! Lovely collection of covers ! Sx
Love them! I’ve got a copy of the Easy Does It cookbook at home, and love the illustrations in it.
My father, Bill Sokol and Tomi Unger were best friends! I had Various Owls, were it is now, is a good question??
Tomi, is the person, who who started my love of owls. He also taught me how to draw them.
Pure joy. Thank you for curating all these wonderful images. ❤️
My dream job, would be to design book covers- one day! By the way, as a Xmas present for myself, I bought Brian Wildsmith’s Animal Kingdom, which was released by his family, after his recent death. You did an excellent interview with his son, a while ago, and mentioned that he was going to release a revamped version of some of Brian’s mid-century animal illustrations from the 60s and 70s. So, thanks for alerting me to this – the book is superb, and I will treasure it!
Wonderful, uplifting 😊
