Wooden Russian Churches

I stumbled upon some snowy images of these wonderful Russian Churches and thought
I’d share them with you. Below is Uspenskaya church constructed in 1694 and located in
Nelazskoye village of Vologda Oblast and known as a masterpiece of Russian wooden architecture.
Apparently many of these churches were constructed without nails, I assume they skilfully created
joints that were interlocking or had very good russian glue ! Beautiful works of art.

They are beautiful. The latter one looks like it was influenced by the southern bordering countries;China,Japan or Mongolia?! I hope the craft will be passed on.
the last picture and little above is not russian orthodox church.
This church is located in Borgund, Norway http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borgund_Stave_Church.
There is one church of this type in Poland, Karpacz, moved from Norway in the 19th century by Frederick William IV King of Prussia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vang_stave_church
