Fishink Card ideas

Fishinkblog 7163 Fishink Cards 3

I’ve had a busy few weeks lately,  really enjoying designing a new range of greeting card ideas to show on my agents site Yellow House Art Licensing.

They haven’t even seen them yet, so I’m giving you a sneaky preview ! Everything starts off with a sketch, either on paper or on the mac. I’m still thinking about animals, because I believe they make so many people smile. Warning …. rough sketches below ! Lol

These roughs, then get manipulated, sometimes not, occasionally totally reworked, until I get the look that I want. Colour and decisions about the quality of line are made at this stage too.

I’m even thinking about other reasons why you might buy a card for someone. Reasons for which there may not even (yet) be cards for !!

How often have you known a friend to be feeling sad or pretty low and you wanted to send them that perfect card, that said all the right things and managed to cheer them up at the same time ? Well this is where I was going with my thoughts here.

And finally something a little more obvious ! What do you think Fishink peeps ? Would you buy any of these ? All comments appreciated.

    Hi Craig,
I really like both the elephant designs. He looks sooooo happy and the designs are full of fun……can i come to the party please.
Feeling out of sorts is a great way to express perhaps some tension between friends or a couple……so defo keep going with that one.
I think you should develop the “sniff sniff doggie “sketch, as I think he has a great form.
    love

Personally I love any card with an animal on it especially dogs! They are lovely. The animals ooze character and are very different from what you find in the shops. I’d definitely buy!

Your work is fun, bright, lively… sure to brighten anyone’s day! You’re very perceptive of people’s feelings–good ideas here. Even the rough sketches are cute. I just plain like your stuff. Okay, my warped mind just noticed something—hope you’ll think it’s funny too… the giraffe, ‘congratulations, you’ve passed’ : thinking of someone who has ‘passed on’–died. But then, if you were dead, you wouldn’t be reading a card, would you. I think the ferocious dog (near top) has an awesome attitude. He looks all growly and combative, although that probably wouldn’t work in a greeting card unless it was used in a letter notifying someone that you were bringing legal action against them… okay, I’ll quit now.

Joy your comments and thoughts are always a reward. Thanks for the smiles of my day, great ideas. If I start a range for the deceased… I’ll let you know : )

I love the giraffe in the car! Have you ever thought of approaching companies that produce products for babies and young children? Your animals would be adorable on baby clothes, dishes and room decorations.

Thanks Lisa, I used to design repeat patterns for pushchairs and carry cots a long time ago. I’m hoping my agents will be covering those markets now. Great ideas though and many thanks for your comments, much appreciated.
