Fishink Stamps !
A parcel arrived for me today, full of moulded rubber sheets, foam pads and lovely natural wooden blocks,
…and before you think it, no it’s nothing kinky ! (really !!)
… it’s a stamp making kit of my Fishink designs !
I think I had been a little giddy when first ordering the rubber stamps and now I have 100 of them to make (EEEK),
when I don’t know, but hey it’s still very exciting.
What a week of fun… buzz and new stationery items. Yes and I’m like a child in a sweetshop again lol.

Fishink Stickers !
Happy Birthday
Every now and then I try and make the time to do something that’s not run of the mill for me, so when my good friend Lizzie told me that it’s her ‘ 30+10th ‘ birthday coming up and asked if I could design an invitation for her, I jumped at the chance.
She was pretty focussed and knew that she wanted it to say something about being a young lady who lives in the city. I hope the card speaks for itself and she likes the end result too !
Happy B’ day for next month !
Fishink Notebooks
Y A Y !!!!
I got my first range of Fishink Notebooks from the printers yesterday and was so pleased with the results.
They’ve made a great job of printing, compiling and creating the start of my stationery products and it’s exciting to see some results after all these months of designing. Here’s some images before I get the website up and running. More Fishink Cards and Stickers to come.. watch this space.! How exciting !
Comments welcome.
Those Sum-um-merr Niii-yiiites…
…tell me more, tell me more.
No I’m not talking Grease here, (sorry for those fans), but more about the lovely balmy evenings we’ve been enjoying lately in old Blighty.
Whilst part of Europe are having gales and rainstorms, we in the UK are having a rare old time of it. Weather wise I mean.
A couple of images I took a couple of nights ago to prove it. They make me think of a song by the fabulous group ‘The Sundays’ ‘Summertime’

Inspiration !
I’d clearly forgotten I’d ordered a second hand copy of ‘ A Child’s Garden Of Verses’ by Robert Louis Stevenson and more importantly, illustrated by Brian Wildsmith.
What a treat when I discovered what was in the mystery parcel. He is a talented children’s artist and has been for many years, yet many people still don’t know his work. Out of interest the book of verses I’d bought was first published in 1966, my edition was reprinted in 1992, some 26 years later and I’d guess it’s still going strong ! The japanese not surprisingly love his work so much, that in 1994, the Brian Wildsmith Art Museum was established in Izukogen, a town south of Tokyo, Japan. Almost one and a half million people visited a traveling exhibition of his work in 2005. Eight hundred of his paintings are on loan to the museum.
On his own website Brain Wildsmith it says..
Brian Wildsmith was raised in a small mining village in Yorkshire, England, where, he says, “Everything was grey. There wasn’t any colour. It was all up to my imagination. I had to draw in my head…”. “ I believe that beautiful picture books are vitally important in subconsciously forming a child’s visual appreciation, which will bear fruit in later life.”
And those of us already in our mid lives can thankfully appreciate him still !
and talking of being inspired, this amazing advert from Premiere Vision caught my attention.
My business stamps have arrived !
A couple of weeks ago I ordered two stamps for my business from a lovely company called Primele. The designer Patricia Mumau (blog patriciamumau.com) either creates beautifully hand decorated letters or personal stamps for home or business use. You can buy her products or order a stamp for yourself here
An example of Patricias’ contemporary calligraphy.
…and here’s how my stamps arrived.. wonderfully packaged !
Many thanks to Patricia and her helpful sister Rachel.
Manchester School Of Art Degree Show 2010
Another great day at the Manchester School of Art Degree Show, just off Oxford Road. Some amazing work by new graduates in areas such as Textiles, Embroidery and Fashion. I particularly liked the work of two students in the Illustration department, Sally Brewster and Tom Bingham. Check out Toms’ site here. tombingham
Other surprises featured a rather large Star Wars style animal and icing coated wellingtons !
